2015 Sustainability Fair - Sat. May 16th
@ Heritage Station - Huntington, WV

Sustainability Fair.  Huntington WV - Heritage Station; Keynote address, workshops, demonstrations, exhibitors, live music, youth activities,  local foods, green building, transportation, sustainable energy, resource conservation, urban agriculture and much more.  Spearheaded by Sustainable Living for WV org in conjunction with our partners and sponsors including: Greater Huntington Park & Recreation District; Marshall University Sustainability Dept.; Living Local Project.  Additional support from Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition, Davis & Elkins College Center for Sustainability Studies and local small businesses.   Email us to participate and for more information, and visit us at: and

Volunteers Needed!

Anyone interested in volunteering at Huntington's first Sustainability Fair on May 16th, follow this link and fill out our online registration form:

Schedule Of Events

MAY 16th, Saturday

  • 10AM – Tour DePATH: Bring your bike, helmet and other protective gear, and bike the Paul Ambrose Trail for Health
  • 10AM – Perennial Exchange and Plant Sale, hosted by the Cabell County Master Gardeners Association
  • 10AM-5PM: Various demonstrations, workshops, exhibits, and family-friendly activities will be hosted by numerous participating organizations, businesses, groups and individuals throughout the day. 

Throughout the Day:

  • Bring Your T-Shirt! (#7) & (#81) | Bring a T-shirt from home, or get one for free from Goodwill, and have Brand Yourself print our fair logo design on your shirt for only $6! It is a very sustainable way to commemorate Huntington’s first Sustainability Fair, and some of the proceeds will go to help fund the Next fair!
  • Tech-Recycling (#80) | Goodwill Industries of KYOVA will be hosting a free Technology Recycling station. Most any type of electronic computer related device can be recycled, including monitors (TV’s will NOT be accepted). So bring your old phones, computers, and other “old tech”, then come enjoy the fair.
  • Try This (#50) | KIDS ACTIVITY – paper pots, planting seeds, and recipes

  • 4PM: MUSD (#75) | “Recycling on campus and in Huntington
  • 5-11PM: Bar & Beverage Station by Greater Huntington Park and Recreation District, with craft beer on tap and Coke products

  • 11AM – Energy Efficiency: with Jill Watkins of Watkins Design Works and the US Green Building Council
  • 12PM – Green Building and Design: with Josh Dygert, AIA, of Edward Tucker Architects
  • 1PM – Local Food and Farming: Shelly Keeney of the Wild Ramp
  • 2PM – Reclaim/Rebuild: with Deacon Stone on the Corbin Factory Project and Coalfield Development Corporation
  • 3PM – Water: with Natalie Thompson of OVEC, Angie Rosser of WV Rivers Coalition, and Lew Baker of WV Rural Water Association
  • 4PM – “Elk River Blues”, an independent film on the January 2014 chemical spill, by local film maker Mike Youngren. Mike will be on hand to discuss why he wanted to make this film.
